About this item
The mini gigabit Ethernet media converter bridges a standard copper Ethernet connection to single-mode fibre, allowing network equipment to be placed far from the main switch or rack. Powered by a small DC supply.
You will also need: a compatible SFP transceiver module (sold separately — see the 1000BASE-LX/LH SFP in our catalogue), LC fibre patch lead, and a fibre reel or existing fibre infrastructure at the venue. Two converters are typically required (one at each end of the fibre run).
Common uses:
- Extending Ethernet to remote camera or AV positions over fibre
- Connecting Dante audio networks across long runs
- Temporary production networks in venues without existing fibre infrastructure
- Access point and switch-to-switch fibre links
